Embarking May 14 from St. John's, NFLD to Victoria, BC.
Brandon’s Story: Having confronted and survived cancer at age 2, battling a brain aneurysm and stroke at age 15, Brandon is back to a cancer-free, healthy life thanks to the medical community, the positive support and love of family and friends, and mostly his own strength and desire.
Now at age 19, Brandon’s gratefulness for life and passion for longboarding started the vision for a cross-country longboard trek and “Cruise” and “Conquest” events to create community fund-raising programs. His story, his passion and strength is inspiring, though it will take the support of communities, longboarders, survivors and the incredible generosity and hearts of sponsors everywhere that will assure the success of Long For Life.
2012 saw the inaugural 20K Cruise along the pathways of Red Deer, Alberta. With great turnout raising $5000 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. We stood in awe of the support, hard work and generosity of the volunteers, the sponsors and all of the riders. Can't wait until September 7, 2013 to do it again!
Barely able to sleep night after night awaiting the start of the trek. Craving the workouts, visions of Canada's landscape, experiencing the hearts of people from coast to coast to bring it all together, the hours and hours of planning and discovery and preparation, late nights... are nothing but a joy. We know that all this effort and coming together will make a difference.
10 Cruises, 10 Conquests across Canada while riding 7000 kilometers from St. John's to Vancouver. Long? Grueling? Tough? Sure. Compared to a beating cancer...? It is a privilege to challenge. For all who wish to enjoy a cruise, challenge a conquest, or challenge Canada, we're here to support all of the kids battling today, or who will battle tomorrow. Long For Life is about all of us knowing - truly believing - that we are here to survive and thrive!
